Type One: The Perfectionist Ones are bady-based types with an emphasis on personal integrity and self-control. Their attention goes towrds seeing and correcting what is wrong, an doing the right thing. Consequently, Perfectionists are conscientious, responsible, improvement-oriented, and self-controlled, but also can be critical, self-judging and resentful towards people who do not take life as seriously as they do. Type Two: The Giver Twos are feeling-based types with a focus on relationships. They excell at making connections and emphatizingwith the needs and feelings of other people.They want be accepted and liked by others, and will adapt or change to earn this approval. Consequently, Givers are caring, helpful, supportive, and relationship-oriented, but also can be prideful, overly intrusive, and demanding. Type Three: The Performer Threes are feeling-based types who channel their emotional energy into getting things done. They believe you must accomplish and succeed to be loved. Their focus on keeping up their image and achieving results can get in the way of personal needs and health. Consequently, Performers are industrious, fast-paced, goal focused, and efficiency- oriented, but also can be inattentive to feelings, impatient, and image-driven. Type Four: The Romantic Fours are feeling-based types who often experience a sense of longing or melancholy. They seek meaning and depth in their relationships, their work or quest for personal creativity, but often have a sense that something is missing. While they are good at creating an image, it is important for them to be authentic. Romantics are idealistic, deeply feeling, empathetic, authentic to self, but also dramatic, moody, and sometimes self-absorbed. Type Five: The Observer Fives are mental types who focus on intellectual understanding and accumulating knowledge.They believe you must protect yourself from a world that demands too much and gives too little to assure life. Many people of this type are intellectually brilliant or knowledgeable, while feelings and relationships present an enormous challange. Observers are self-sufficiency seeking, non-demanding, analytic/thoughtful, and unobtrusive, but also can be withholding, detached, and overly private. Type Six: The Loyal Skeptic Sixes are mental types who use their perception and intellect to understand the world and figure out whether other people are friendly or hostile. Sixes are good at anticipating problems and coming up with solutions.Knowing the rules and making agreements is impotant, yet at the same they they tend doubtthemselves and question others. They can oscillate between skepticism and certainty, rebel or true believer. Loyal Skeptics are trustworthy, inquisitive, good friends, and questioning, but also can be overly doubtful, accusatory, and fearful. Type Seven: The Epicure Sevens are mental types who are forward thinkers and forward movers. They usually bring an optimistic and positive attitude to all of their activities, which can reflect an interest in many different subjects. They believe you must keep life up and open to assure a good life, but as enthusiastic consumers of new ideas, too much of a good thing can be a problem for them. Epicures are optimistic, upbeat, possibility- and pleasure-seeking, and adventurous, but also can be pain-avoidant, uncommitted, and self-serving. Type Nine: The Mediator Balanced at the top of the Enneagram, Nines are the most basic or undistorted personality type. Nines have a problem with priorities and find it difficult to change directions or shift attention to what is most important. They believe that to be loved and valued you must blend in and go along to get along. Consequently, Mediators are self-forgetting, harmony-seeking, comfortable, and steady, but also conflict avoidant and sometimes stubborn |
